| Essential Job Duties |
The Student Employment Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the student workforce that helps power Wellness and Recreation programs and services. This position serves as the primary resource for student employment operations, managing the hiring, onboarding, payroll, and employment records for more than 600 student employees filling approximately 1,300 positions annually.
Working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, the Student Employment Specialist oversees day-to-day employment processes, maintains employment and payroll records, develops and manages online application systems, and ensures compliance with university, state, and federal employment requirements. This position serves as a key partner to students, supervisors, and campus stakeholders, providing guidance and support throughout the employment lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships while delivering exceptional customer service. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Knowledge of student employment, payroll, and onboarding processes including employment regulations, hiring documentation, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work autonomously with initiative and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to proficiently operate computer systems and software for email, spreadsheets, word processing and HR systems, including managing electronic records
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and compliance requirements related to university, state, and federal employment guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with students, team members and campus partners.
