Reports To:Purchasing Manager

Schedule: Monday through Friday business hours and as needed

Location: Dania Beach, FL

Required Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Three years of experience with purchasing responsibilities required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for the daily purchasing and expediting activities for the Fairwater division. Activities include daily communication with suppliers, vessels, and shoreside management teams to ensure the effective implementation of company purchasing processes, procedures, and systems. Duties also include the application of best purchasing practices.
  • Responsible for purchasing various materials for assigned tank vessels, including machinery spares, steward supplies, tools, and deck consumables. Duties include researching/sourcing products, processing requisitions/requests for quotations, and evaluating/selecting vendors. Duties also include preparing and following purchase orders to ensure correct coding and approvals.
  • Responsible for follow-up of all issued purchase orders to ensure appropriate delivery dates/times/locations. The delivery schedule for material to the vessels must be continually monitored and adjusted depending on the vessel's schedule. The buyer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of all purchased materials.
  • Responsible for updating the company's purchasing system with any changes in status or other information on suppliers/products.
  • Responsible for assisting clerical staff with reconciling purchase orders and invoice discrepancies.
  • Responsible for category buying, working alongside the Purchasing Manager in the development and management of category strategies, supplier segmentation, and spend analysis to drive cost savings and procurement efficiency.
  • Responsible for leading and supporting contract negotiations with suppliers, working alongside the Purchasing Manager to establish terms and conditions, pricing agreements, service level commitments, and renewals to ensure favorable outcomes for the company.
  • Responsible for working with Operations to support sourcing for drydocks and special projects, and collaborating with logistics to ensure parts and materials are delivered on time.
  • Assist colleagues with daily responsibilities in the event of vacation, sick days, business trips, etc., to ensure uninterrupted service to vessels.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Manager, Tanker Purchasing.
