Job Description

What is the opportunity?

VP Business Risk - Reporting to the Director Business Risk and being embedded in the RBC Clears 1 LoD, the VP Business Risk is a trusted Business Risk advisor to the RBC Clear Product organization and functional teams in the 1st and 2nd Line of defense. This is not just a role - it is a chance to be a strategic partner in building industry leading risk practices that empower sound decision making. You will gain exposure to RBC Clear business and functions and become a leader and subject matter expert on topics of enterprise and operational risk.

What will you do?

  • Represent Business Risk and product to support U.S. and enterprise governance or regulatory programs, coordinate feedback from business and ensure execution.
  • Consult and educate the business on RBC framework and regulatory requirements, translating supervisory expectations into actionable business implications and fostering a strong risk culture of ownership.
  • Identify control gaps during change events (e.g., new product roll-out, regulatory shifts) and develop mitigation strategies aligned with industry best practices and RBC's operational risk framework.
  • Facilitate collaboration between process owners, subject matter experts (SMEs), and stakeholders to build robust, actionable processes.
  • Assess effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices and governance processes to effectively draw conclusions and generate insights.
  • Champion Issue self-identification, provide transparency of status and progress on remediation.
  • Identify, prioritize, and proactively manage dependencies, risks, exceptions and issues.
  • Escalate stalled or at-risk items through appropriate channels; identify course correction needs and facilitate approvals or remediation decisions
  • Develop and execute comprehensive change management strategies to implement new operational risk frameworks, tools, and processes across multiple business units and geographies.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 7- 8 years in a Risk or Audit role in the Transaction Banking/Cash Management product.
  • Profound knowledge if supervisory expectation expressed in U.S. Regulatory obligations, Federal Reserve Supervisory Letter, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency bulletin.
  • Experience in interpreting, designing control to meet prudential regulatory obligations or Operational Risk framework requirements.
  • A collaborative leader that is self-motivated, proactive, a critical thinker, and able to coach teams in the execution of Risk engagements.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with high tolerance for change and ability to adapt.
  • Proven ability to drive accountability to manage stakeholders and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build, influence and impact.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with RBC Operations and Governance frameworks
  • 3-5 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance
  • Experience or excited to learn agile ways of working
  • Strong program and project management skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream initiatives.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $140,000-190,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
