Job Summary

We are seeking a Safety Manager to provide operational safety support across multiple business units and projects throughout the Southeastern United States. This position is responsible for implementing, administering, and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with company standards and all applicable federal and state regulations. The Safety Manager will play a key role in developing and promoting safety initiatives that prevent occupational incidents, injuries, and illnesses while fostering a strong safety culture across the organization. This role requires regular travel throughout the Southeast region as needed.

Job Responsibilities




  • Support and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.



  • Ensure compliance with general safety requirements and project-specific safety protocols.



  • Assist in developing corrective action plans for locations that are not meeting safety performance goals.



  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, presentations, and educational materials.



  • Schedule, conduct, and document safety audits, inspections, and assessments.



  • Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures.



  • Assist in developing hazard mitigation strategies and safety processes.



  • Provide safety training and accident prevention guidance to management and field personnel.



  • Prepare reports related to safety audits, investigations, incidents, and performance metrics.



  • Conduct investigations involving incidents, near-misses, vehicle accidents, and equipment-related events.



  • Perform root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.



  • Facilitate safety meetings, committees, and ongoing communication initiatives.



  • Notify leadership of incidents, injuries, OSHA-related activities, and provide on-site support when appropriate.



  • Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, and other required safety documentation.



  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for safety culture throughout the organization.



  • Participate in the hiring, training, and oversight of site safety personnel.



  • Support claims reviews and incident follow-up activities.



  • Travel throughout the Southeast region as required to support operational and project needs.



  • Perform other related duties as assigned.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred.



  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction safety experience, preferably within telecommunications, utility, or electrical construction environments.



  • OSHA 510 certification required.



  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification required at minimum.



  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction standards and applicable state regulations.



  • Familiarity with Confined Space Entry Standards (29 CFR 1926.1200 Subpart AA) preferred.



  • OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer certification or similar credential is preferred.



  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.



  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.



  • Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.



  • Must meet company driving requirements and maintain a valid driver's license.



  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and provide support when required.




Work Experience




  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in construction safety management.



  • Experience supporting multiple job sites and geographically dispersed operations preferred.



  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training programs required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Candidate may be located anywhere within Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, provided they understand and can meet the travel requirements of the position.



  • Preferred locations include Montgomery, Alabama, and Huntsville, Alabama; however, qualified candidates throughout the approved territory will be considered.



  • Regular travel throughout the Southeastern United States is required.



  • Must be able to perform site inspections that involve walking, climbing, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.



  • Must maintain situational awareness and physical agility while working in active construction environments.



  • Must be able to use computer systems and safety management software effectively.
