ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Site Investigation & Remediation team is seeking an Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer to join our New York City office. At VHB, our Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) practice is dedicated to delivering comprehensive services that investigate, manage and mitigate environmental risks while satisfying regulatory requirements and complex project variables. Join our team and play a crucial role in enhancing how we deliver technically excellent and thoughtful SIR services to our clients. You'll be instrumental in creating cost-effective, multi-disciplinary solutions and providing essential SI&R support for some of Vermont's most notable development and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

    Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
  • Provide hands-on support during field exploration and testing
  • Interpret and communicate investigation findings
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
  • Participate in environmental due diligence activities
  • Write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work in office and field settings (this position requires traveling within New York City, New York State, and nearby states).
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with abilities to problem solve and work independently
  • Documents work in a detailed manner and keeps data and other information organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, experience with AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS Pro and EQuIS or other laboratory data management software a plus

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work in office and field settings (this position requires traveling within New York City, New York State, and nearby states).
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with abilities to problem solve and work independently
  • Documents work in a detailed manner and keeps data and other information organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, experience with AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS Pro and EQuIS or other laboratory data management software a plus
  • Phase I +II ESA experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 1-3 years of professional environmental/remediation consulting experience required
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required after 30 days of employment
  • Valid driver's license

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City and New Jersey is $71,000-80,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
