Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Department Chairperson - Applied Technologies QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree preferred. Experience with program assessment and accreditation processes; five years of teaching experience preferably in a community college setting; demonstrated supervisory or administrative experience. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department Chairperson of Applied Technologies reports to the Dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and performs the following duties: * Prepares the departmental schedule for each term throughout the year, coordinating such efforts with the College Scheduling Officer and ensuring compliance with the Faculty Association's contract. Modifies the schedules as necessary once they have been developed. * Develops community contacts which in conjunction with advertisements placed through the Office of Human Resources, will reliably provide a supply of qualified Adjunct Faculty. * Provides academic leadership for the department, including curriculum development, course review, and academic advisement. * Continuously improves the quality of departmental programs. * Assists the Dean in developing a departmental budget. Monitors and approves departmental expenditures. * Supervises and evaluates faculty, and assists in faculty development programs. * Oversees program accreditation processes including self-study report and site visits. * Ensures that each program has an advisory board comprised of external persons well suited to determine the industry trends and for determining the extent to which the program meets those needs. * Support the work of the Admissions Office on behalf of departmental programs. * Works collaboratively with Institutional Research, Grants Office, Workforce Development, the Foundation, and other relevant offices to identify external sources of major funding and to identify internal needs for funding. * Works to support college in the high school programs. * Actively works on establishing articulation agreements with high schools and four-year institutions. * Teaches a course load of up to 12 contact hours per year. * Performs other related duties and responsibilities included in the Department Chairperson's contract with the College. The Salary for this position is $60,000.00 plus $17,500.00 stipend. Position to begin August 24, 2026.
