Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accountant to support a wide range of day-to-day functions within the Accounting/Finance Department. Reporting to the Senior Controller, this position performs accounting-related tasks including accounts receivable, general ledger activities, billing support, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of the accounts receivable process, including recording cash receipts, processing check deposits, and collaborating with Project Managers on collection efforts.
- Generate and distribute account statements upon request or as needed throughout the accounts receivable process.
- Process customer credit card payments over the phone and apply them accurately to customer accounts.
- Assist in fixed asset tracking, including preparation of year-end documentation for external accountants.
- Assist Project Accountants with updating project records, including closing inactive or completed projects in Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Support accounting-related client or project-specific billing requests.
- Contribute to general accounting functions, including the monthly close process, accounts payable processing, bank reconciliations, and audit support activities.
- Participate in accounting system testing, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Attend team and department meetings and contribute to ongoing process discussions and improvements.
- Travel occasionally to Fishbeck's regional offices as needed.

Minimum Physical Requirements
Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, and engage in occasional light lifting (up to 25 lbs). Visual acuity to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person or over the telephone. Desired Education/Licensure
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
Desired Skills/Experience
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services or consulting environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including P&L awareness.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive problem solver who is adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
- A mindset for continuous learning and improvement.
