The Grounds Crewman is responsible for supporting the maintenance and appearance of Luther Manor's campus grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff. This entry-level position assists in maintaining outdoor spaces through routine groundskeeping, general upkeep, and minor exterior repairs. Through these efforts, the Grounds Crewman supports quality of life for residents and ensures compliance with organizational standards, safety practices, and applicable federal and state regulations, including DHS guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Collaborates with Maintenance Department team members to maintain the overall appearance and safety of campus grounds.
  • Performs routine lawn care including mowing, trimming, edging, and watering to maintain healthy and aesthetically pleasing green spaces.
  • Pick up and removes branches, brush, litter, and debris from all outdoor areas in a timely manner.
  • Maintains pond and water feature areas, including debris removal and visual upkeep.
  • Assists with restriping parking areas using approved yellow striping paint to ensure safe traffic flow and compliance with facility standards.
  • Performs minor repairs to downspouts, drainage systems, and exterior fixtures as assigned.
  • Cleans and maintains outdoor courtyards, patios, and common areas to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors.
  • Ensures walkways, entrances, and outdoor areas are free of hazards and maintained in accordance with safety standards.
  • Properly utilizes tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with safety guidelines and training.
  • Assists with seasonal grounds maintenance, including leaf removal, snow removal and salting of entryways, snow preparation, and other weather-related duties.
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns, maintenance needs, or environmental hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of Luther Manor in alignment with our Mission, Vision, and CARE Values.
  • Maintains compliance with all facility policies and procedures, OSHA standards, and applicable DHS regulations (including DHS 83 and related long-term care requirements).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or landscaping preferred but not required (entry-level role).
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to work modified hours with seasonal changes.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment following training and established procedures.
  • Must adhere to Luther Manor Administrative Dress Code and safety requirements
  • May be required to drive golf cart and/or UTV on company property.
