The laboratory of Dr. Konstantin Ichtchenko is looking to hire a Research Associate to conduct cutting-edge research where you will be designing, expressing, and purifying protein biopharmaceuticals for neurological disease. The research involves first-in-class fusion proteins that enable the delivery of single-domain antibodies, polypeptides, and small molecules into neuronal cytoplasm without a viral vehicle. This position is funded by a research grant from NIH. The recruited individual will lead an effort to engineer, express, purify, and test recombinant proteins with unique and specified characteristics as neuron-targeting delivery vehicles. Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related disciplines. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related disciplines.
Extensive experience in gene cloning, protein engineering, expression, and purification.
Knowledge and experience in protein chemistry, protein conjugation, and labeling.
Broad experience in protein expression systems, including insect cell culture, mammalian expression systems, and prokaryotic expression systems.
Broad experience in protein purification using multiple methods - affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, size exclusion, etc.
Broad Experience in analytical biochemistry (e.g., Native and SDS PAGE, Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry).
Strong data analysis, interpretation, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong work ethic, and personal sense of purpose driven, self-motivated, and timeline focused. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,033.89 - $48,300.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
