Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a postdoctoral scientist for the Gynecological Research Laboratory located at Endeavor Health Skokie, IL-an educational affiliate of the University of Chicago. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to attain University of Chicago credentials with the potential for promotion.

The Department of Urogynecology has been investigating novel diagnostic methods, and conducted treatment studies for pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms such as urinary incontinence, constipation and pelvic organ prolapse. Our team has extensive experiences in biomechanical studies of pelvic floor in collaboration with University of Pittsburgh. Currently, we plan to extend our field of research to preventive measures including childbirth related trauma.

Expanding knowledge and understanding for our fellow providers and our patients is core to our mission. At our center we maintain a culture of 'moving the bar', thinking independently to develop new pelvic health solutions that are tested through well designed clinical research

What you will do:

  • Responsible for administrative decisions on expenditures of research funds; monitors accounts; meets and negotiates prices and specifications with vendors (or with Purchasing); approve purchase of research materials, equipment, and services.
  • Manages, organizes and plans the experimental work of the laboratory, with the approval of the principal investigator.
  • Designs, sets up, conducts, and correlates a variety of difficult experiments (original and standard), including biological assays, quantitative and qualitative analyses. Observes pertinent interactions and records exact statistical results.
  • Consults with professional research personnel in matters of research design, experimental techniques, instrumentation, and scientific inference from research results.
  • As requested, teaches others to perform technically difficult experiments requiring advanced knowledge of complicated procedures and techniques. Regularly reviews scientific literature. Evaluates and recommends applicable techniques and procedures.
  • Analyzes and prepares results of research in conjunction with the principal investigator(s). Co-authors scientific papers for presentation and publication

What you will need:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (PhD or M.D., including those conferred outside of U.S.) in related field.

  • Experience: Experience in academic research during graduate studies
