The Nanoscience Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member
at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in support of its recent addition of a concentration in Nanomedicine to its PhD program. The Department of Nanoscience is a dynamic, transdisciplinary, graduate-only, research-intensive department. The Department of Nanoscience offers several graduate degree programs, including a PhD program in Nanoscience with concentrations in Frontier Materials, Synthetic Biology, and Nanomedicine; a thesis-based MS; and a non-thesis professional MS. The department is located within the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, jointly established by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University |
| Position Summary |
Applicants working broadly in Nanomedicine or Synthetic Biology with a focus on human health and medicine are welcome to apply. This includes areas such as nanomedicine development, smart biomaterial design, biomedical engineering, drug delivery, diagnostic nanotechnology, gene therapy, and the study of nanoparticle interactions with biological systems, including micro physiological systems and tissue engineering. Candidates whose work can complement or further advance the department's current research efforts, preferably through experimental approaches, are especially encouraged to apply. Qualified applicants will have earned a PhD in any relevant scientific discipline, such as biomedical engineering, bioengineering, molecular biology, pharmacology, or microbiology, and will have at least 2 years of postdoctoral training. Competitive candidates will have an excellent research record, as demonstrated by their publication record, and either exhibit strong prospects for extramural funding or have an established extramural funding record. The new faculty will be expected to develop an externally supported research program, teach effectively at the graduate level, collaborate with researchers in the Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering as well as with researchers in their field, and participate in Departmental and University service activities, with opportunities at the Joint School to engage in entrepreneurial activities.
