The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology is seeking a Temporary Clinical Trials Research Assistant! This position will work closely with clinical research nurses and coordinators in the NICU clinical research program in patient recruitment and enrollment, data collection and monitoring, and processing of biological samples. The successful applicant will work with the entire research team on relevant research protocols, which may include immune system development, sleep-related brain responses, and epigenetics in the neonatal population. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Perform research activities based upon protocols developed by other research staff or principal investigator of the research project. * Utilize EPIC to determine subject eligibility for multiple studies. * Recruit participants' families by explaining studies and obtaining informed consent. * Enroll patients per protocol, ensuring that all prerequisites have been completed and are within the required parameters. * Obtain biological samples from eligible & consented subjects by request. * Abstract data from review of medical records for consented subjects. * Attend daily team meetings and provide status updates as necessary. * Communicate with research manager about the status of assigned tasks & projects. * Follows universal precautions and general policies and procedures in accordance with NICU clinical guidelines * Willingness to learn relevant protocols under supervision of the principal investigator and other research staff is required. About the Division of Pediatric Neonatology: The nationally recognized Division of Neonatology is committed to providing innovative, comprehensive, high-quality care from our team of physicians, advanced practice nurses, RNs and other health care professionals that results in the best outcomes for infants cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Each year, approximately 900 babies receive a range of neonatal services in the 88-bed NICU, Iowa's only Level IV NICU that has been consistently ranked among the top NICUs in the country for over 10 years. Qualifications - External Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in science, public health, nursing or a related field; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to work 15-20 hours per week, typically during the week but, if desired, over the weekend or in evenings.

- Demonstrated excellence with organizational skills and attention to detail.
Highly Desired Qualifications
- Six months to one year of experience in clinical research
- Undergraduate or graduate experience in research
- Knowledge of the neonatal intensive care population.
- Knowledge of IRB guidelines and research procedures.
- Experience working with Epic.
