The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success will provide strategic leadership for campus-wide student success initiatives and integrated academic support services that support students from admission through graduation. The position's primary focus is on advancing student success through data-informed decision making, coordinated advising and support services, evidence-based interventions, and high-impact educational practices.
The Associate Vice Chancellor will lead institutional efforts to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate student success data related to retention, progression, persistence, credit completion, academic standing, graduation, equity gaps, and student engagement. The position will collaborate with institutional leadership, faculty, and staff to utilize student success metrics in strategic planning, policy development, assessment, accreditation support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Associate Vice Chancellor will assume leadership of the Center for Student Success, which encompasses academic advising for first- and second-year students, transfer students, readmitted students, and academically at-risk students;
TRIO Programs, including
STEM-focused initiatives; peer and professional tutoring; Supplemental Instruction; academic engagement and outreach initiatives; and additional student support programs designed to improve student persistence and achievement.
The position will directly supervise the Director of Academic Advising, Director of Academic Engagement, Director of Transfer Transitions, and Director of
TRIO Programs, and will provide leadership and coordination for student success personnel and initiatives across the institution.
The Associate Vice Chancellor will work closely with the Deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff across the university and provide vision, leadership, and direction for university-wide efforts to increase retention, strengthen academic support services, close equity gaps, and improve student outcomes for all learner populations.
Strategic Leadership, Assessment, and Student Success Analytics - 35%
* Provide leadership, vision, and direction for campus-wide student success programs and initiatives that promote persistence, achievement, retention, and degree completion.
* Lead institutional efforts related to the collection, tracking, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of student success data and metrics.
* Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to retention, progression, academic standing, graduation, equity gaps, and student engagement.
* Utilize institutional and unit-level data to inform strategic planning, resource allocation, policy recommendations, accreditation support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses related to student success outcomes for university leadership, divisional leadership, faculty, governing boards, and external stakeholders.
* Collaborate with Institutional Research and other campus partners to assess effectiveness of student success initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Promote evidence-based and data-informed approaches to student success planning and intervention development.
* Pursue, secure, and oversee external funding opportunities, including federal, state, and private grants, to support student success initiatives, academic support programs, advising innovation, retention strategies, and services for diverse student populations.
Administrative Leadership and Personnel Supervision - 30%
* Provide executive leadership and administrative oversight for the Center for Student Success and its programs and services.
* Directly supervise leadership personnel within the unit, including the Director of Academic Advising, Director of Academic Engagement, Director of Transfer Transitions, and Director of
TRIO Programs.
* Provide leadership, mentoring, evaluation, and professional development for directors and staff within the unit.
* Oversee strategic planning, operational effectiveness, budgeting, personnel management, and assessment activities for the Center for Student Success.
* Ensure compliance with institutional, state, federal, and grant-related policies and regulations, including oversight of federally funded
TRIO programs.
* Coordinate divisional and institutional student success initiatives in collaboration with Academic Affairs leadership and campus stakeholders.
Student Success Programs and Academic Support Services - 25%
* Oversee comprehensive academic advising services for first- and second-year students, transfer students, readmitted students, and academically at-risk students.
* Provide leadership for tutoring services, Supplemental Instruction, peer academic support initiatives, and academic engagement programming.
* Oversee federally funded
TRIO programs, including
STEM-focused initiatives, ensuring successful implementation of grant objectives and student outcomes.
* Lead the development and implementation of integrated support strategies for undergraduate and graduate students, traditional and non-traditional students, and full-time and part-time learners.
* Promote holistic and inclusive student support practices designed to improve academic achievement, persistence, engagement, and degree completion.
* Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to strengthen student learning support initiatives and transition programs.
Institutional Collaboration and University Service - 10%
* Work collaboratively with Deans, department chairs, faculty, staff, and university leadership to advance institutional student success goals.
* Participate in university committees, strategic planning initiatives, accreditation activities, and divisional projects related to student success and academic affairs.
* Represent the Division of Academic Affairs and the Center for Student Success in campus, community, state, and professional organizations and initiatives.
* Support institutional efforts related to student success policy development, enrollment management, and academic planning.
