Job Description: Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC. Meet the Team: Your Working Environment: How We Care for You:
Your Challenges: * Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions. * Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools. * Moves machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers, and trucks. * Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools. * Constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance. * Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts. The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including the following: * Perform root/cause analysis in support reliability processes, and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action. * Rework and maintain tools of all types and materials. * Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g. replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels etc., as related to basic tool preventative maintenance duties). * Repairing and building lay-up tools. Education: Required * High School Diploma/GED or Work Keys Assessment completion * The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: o Health & Safety o General aircraft familiarization o Quality Training Preferred * Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of dismantling, moving, installing, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment. Experience: Licensure/Certifications: Citizenship: * Authorized to work in the U.S. Clearance: * N/A Qualified Skills: Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Required * Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations * Must have basic skills of using a variety of tools Organizational information: Communication Skills: Required * Good verbal and written communication skills in English. * Ability to articulate complex issues to others. * Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential. * Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. * Must not be afraid of heights and can work on elevated platforms as high as 40 feet in the air. * PPE required: Safety glasses, bump caps and safety-toed shoes must be worn on manufacturing floor * Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills. Preferred Technical Systems Proficiency: * Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required) Complexity of the Role: Level of Decision Making: Direct Reports: Is this a people manager? * No Job Dimensions: Nature of Contacts: * Moderate communication on a regular basis with internal and external parties at all levels Physical Requirements: * Onsite: 100 % * Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. * Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. * Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. * Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. * Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. * Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. * Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. * Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. * Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. * Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. * Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice. * Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
