The Lounge Bartender is responsible for creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional beverage preparation, personalized service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. As a key ambassador of Urban Pour and Hotel Indigo Austin, the Lounge Bartender delivers elevated service while preparing cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency and attention to detail. This position contributes to the overall success of the outlet by fostering guest engagement, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization, and supporting food and beverage operations as business demands require. Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience
- Provide friendly, engaging, and attentive service to guests in accordance with Hotel Indigo and Urban Pour standards.
- Build rapport with guests and create memorable, personalized experiences.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of menus, specialty cocktails, wine selections, beer offerings, and current promotions.
- Make recommendations and upsell beverages and menu items to enhance the guest experience.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly and professionally to requests and concerns.
Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and comply with all TABC regulations.
- Maintain consistency in drink quality, portioning, and presentation.
- Verify guest identification and refuse service when appropriate in accordance with legal requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to leadership.
Bar Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout each shift.
- Perform opening, closing, and side work duties.
- Process guest payments accurately using the POS system.
- Ensure glassware, garnishes, mixers, and supplies are properly stocked and rotated.
- Assist with inventory counts and restocking procedures.
Teamwork and Support
- Work collaboratively with servers, kitchen associates, and management to ensure timely service.
- Assist with food service and lounge operations as needed.
- Support banquet functions and special events when business levels require.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment that promotes teamwork and service excellence.
Safety and Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all health, sanitation, and food safety standards.
- Adhere to company policies regarding alcohol service, cash handling, and workplace safety.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area and surrounding guest spaces.
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of bartending experience preferred, preferably in an upscale restaurant, lounge, or hotel environment.
- Knowledge of classic cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits.
- Current TABC Certification and Food Handler Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to provide exceptional hospitality and create memorable guest interactions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate bar equipment and prepare beverages efficiently.
