Department Summary

In UNT's College of Visual Arts and Design, researchers are working to make a difference for people with diabetes, especially in rural parts of Texas, where the disease's prevalence and complications are 15% to 20% higher than in urban areas.

The team is working with local physicians to develop and test a new digital health technology system. EndoMD aims to facilitate online education and self-management support for diabetic patients and their caregivers.

"The EndoMD project has the potential to transform how diabetes self-management is facilitated for millions of rural Texans," says UNT communication design professor Michael R. Gibson.
