The Career Educator for Undergraduates and the Alum Mentoring Programs is a part-time regular position within Career Achievement, Leadership, and Exploration (CALE), which is the primary provider and coordinator of career services for Caltech undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs and recent alums. This position is a member of the career education and advising team, reports to the director, and has primary responsibility for managing CAMP (Career Alumni Mentoring Program).
Job duties
Career education and advising
- Develops and conducts workshops targeted towards STEM undergraduate students on career related topics including resumes, networking, salary negotiation, interviewing, and job search strategies
- Provides individual career advising for undergraduate STEM students including resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, job search strategies, salary negotiation and career navigation
- Assists in maintaining data such as monthly counseling and activity statistics reports, and databases
- Contributes to the career education and advising team
- Teach a section of Design Your Career up to once per term
Alum mentoring program management
- Manage all programs under the Career Alumni Mentoring Programs (CAMP) umbrella including Summer CAMP, Mini CAMP, CAMP on Campus, and CAMP off Campus
- Work closely with the Caltech Alumni Association on marketing and the recruitment of alumni mentors
- Act as the primary point of contact for all student-alum engagement programs within the Techer Professional Network (TPN)
- Develop resources and provide training for both alumni and students as mentors and mentees
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Meets one of two criteria: (1) Masters in social work, career education, counseling, higher ed, or related field OR (2) Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
- At least 3 years of career coaching and education experience
- Strong analytical and communication competencies
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility
- Deep understanding of the STEM student experience
- A demonstrated ability to develop and sustain strong relationships with students majoring in STEM and alumni who graduated from a STEM institution
Preferred Qualifications
- STEM degree
- Familiarity with the Caltech Community
- Previous experience teaching at Caltech

Hiring Range
$36.50 - $40.00 Per Hour
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
