LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.

Established in 2012, Lone Star College-University Park has been recognized nationally and internationally for its innovation, as well as its focus on student access and success. Conveniently located off SH 249 in the heart of northwest Houston, Lone Star College-University Park is known as the "community's college," providing students with highly affordable degree and certificate programs that transfer seamlessly to four-year universities or lead to direct employment. Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager of Student Life develops and communicates department vision, mission and goals. Through collaboration with other campus stakeholders, the Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of engaging campus activities and programs, overseeing the Student Activity Fee budget, student organizations, leadership development, sports, and recreational facilities and activities. The Manager is responsible for key decision making within these areas and is an integral part of the student life cycle and overall student retention.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversee all functions of the Student Life Office including maintaining budgets, implementing programs, and coordinating New Student Orientation and student support
  2. Hire, train and supervise the student ambassador program, all full-time, part-time and student work study staff
  3. Maintain Office of Student Life and Orientation budgets and fiscal management; Monitor the annual budget which includes office expenditures, approving budget expenses for student organizations and clubs
  4. Support the chair of the Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee with coordinating and administering the student activity fee hearing process and developing the budget
  5. Develop and regularly analyze policies, procedures and guidelines for student programs and events, departmental goals and objectives, operations and process and collaborate with College Relations in coordinating and evaluating methods of marketing student programs, events, and activities
  6. Promote and monitor student involvement, train and advise faculty advisors and student leaders, and ensure student organizations are in compliance with all state, system, and college policies, rules, and regulations
  7. Advise the campus Student Government Association
  8. Regularly assess and analyze student needs, interests, and events for developing programs, policies, goals, objectives, and plans for reports and evaluations
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to meet specific deadlines on a daily basis
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse college setting.
  • Intermediate skills in computer and database applications

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hiring salary range is $54,528 - $62,708.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
