The Department of Career Services in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at the University of Minnesota periodically hires Teaching Specialists to teach undergraduate career development courses when instructional needs cannot be met by regular faculty or staff. These are temporary, part-time instructional appointments. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential openings during the 2026-2027 academic year. Submission of an application does not guarantee employment. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis for courses offered during Fall 2026 (September-December 2026) and/or Spring 2027 (January-May 2027). Teaching assignments may be delivered in person, online, or in a hybrid format. Teaching Specialists report to the Associate Director of Career Management Curriculum & Assessment within CLA Career Services. In addition to teaching undergraduate career courses, Teaching Specialists are expected to hold office hours, provide academic support and guidance to students, participate in instructor meetings and training, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a high-quality and consistent learning experience. Pay Range: $2,169 per credit taught; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Additional Pay: $500 (first semester only) for non-CLASS P&A or Teaching Specialists to cover training/professional development Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
