What to Expect
This is an opportunity to work in the cell qualification and R&D group, which is responsible for testing and qualifying Tesla's next-generation li-ion battery cells and developing new cell test methods. The role supports the Gigafactory Nevada cell characterization lab by leading day-to-day test executions and collaborating with test engineers on data collection and equipment operation.
What You'll Do
- Operate battery test equipment to perform routine cell-level testing including electrical characterization, dimensional inspections, and mechanical tests
- Manage battery cell test samples through their full life cycle including incoming inspection, inventory tracking, test registration, labeling, data recording, and equipment loading
- Compile, organize, and communicate test data to test engineers
- Report issues observed in samples, processes, tests, or documentation to supervisor
- Participate in test fixture design and assemble cells into test setups
- Identify and troubleshoot test equipment and setups as needed
- Support laboratory organization and maintain a clean work environment
What You'll Bring
- Knowledge in electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Experience with metrology and data acquisition systems
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment such as battery cyclers, temperature chambers, and vacuum systems
- Strong interest in lithium-ion battery technology
- High attention to detail and ability to execute test procedures with accuracy
- Proficient in Windows and MS Office applications
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
