Quality Engineer II Los Angeles, CA Pay: $54.32 per hour 26-06553 Job Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities for hydromechanical and electromechanical products throughout fabrication, assembly, testing, and production processes. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers to ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support root cause investigations, oversee nonconformance processes, and promote adherence to the organization's Quality Management System. Job Responsibilities
- Provide Quality Assurance support to manufacturing, assembly, testing, suppliers, and customers.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers to resolve quality-related issues and improve product performance.
- Support the nonconforming material control process, including participation in Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), manufacturing process plans, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Oversee the implementation and flow-down of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into manufacturing and supply chain operations.
- Manage customer return material authorizations (RMAs), including failure analysis, corrective actions, and customer communication.
- Support internal, supplier, and customer audits related to systems, processes, and products.
- Develop and maintain product quality plans, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and control plans.
- Support proof-of-build activities and evaluate manufacturing processes for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations and process improvement initiatives.
- Promote compliance with Quality Management System requirements and industry standards.
- Develop reporting tools and maintain accurate quality data to support departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze quality trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support documentation, inspections, testing activities, and quality records management.
- Communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and production teams to ensure specification compliance.
- Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive quality engineering experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of quality engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with problem-solving methodologies including 8D, Fishbone Analysis, 5 Whys, and PFMEA.
- Knowledge of corrective and preventive action processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and schematics.
- Understanding of quality systems, inspection methods, and metrology principles.
- Experience supporting audits, quality investigations, and nonconformance processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDF software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must meet U.S. Person requirements as defined under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in aerospace, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or related industries required.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, testing, and production operations preferred.
- Experience with hydromechanical or hydraulic product assembly and testing processes preferred.
- Experience working within regulated quality management systems preferred.
- Experience supporting engineering change management and nonconformance processes preferred.
