In anticipation of an upcoming award, we are seeking a Lead Accountant to join our accounting team. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing complex accounting tasks, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, preparing financial reports, leading accounting staff, and analyzing financial data to provide insights to the CFO; their key duties include performing month-end close procedures, complex reconciliations, reviewing transactions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and the FAR while providing leadership and guidance to junior accountants. Any candidate applying for this position must exhibit great attention to detail, understand the importance of getting the correct information to the correct person to facilitate informed decisions, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative and can manage multiple tasks in a small amount of time. The candidate should possess a strong work ethic, while also valuing collaboration and communication. US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a background investigation before their first day. This is a primarily remote position but the selected candidate must live within commuting distance of the Washington Metropolitan area. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
