Materials Science and Engineering Job Description
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The appointment is anticipated to begin Fall 2026. MSE Department Overview The MSE department currently comprises sixteen tenured/tenure-track faculty and five non-tenure-track teaching/research faculty. The department offers undergraduate degrees in ceramic, metallurgical, and semiconductor engineering, as well as graduate degrees in materials science and engineering, ceramic engineering, and metallurgical engineering. The department serves approximately 150 undergraduate students and 75 graduate students. Faculty in the department conduct research across a broad range of areas, including advanced high-strength steels, critical minerals and materials, materials for extreme environments, biomaterials, functional and energy materials, with approximately $12 million in annual research expenditures.
