Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up, tend, and maintain fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, brakes, and punch presses
- Read shop work orders to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
- Understand bend allowances, thickness tolerances, and machine tonnage requirements
- Set stops or guides to specified lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or template
- Perform minor daily and weekly machine maintenance tasks such as oiling machines, refilling fluids, checking filters, and general cleaning
- Rivet and spot weld workpieces
- Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, light duty jib cranes, and vacuum lifters
- Foster a work environment that is enjoyable, prideful, and customer-focused
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three months of experience or training in this area
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Ability
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Write simple correspondence
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Math Ability
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Proficiency with technology
- Proficiency in manufacturing equipment operation, online safety training, ERP system, and HRIS platform (Training provided)
