Description

The Senior Project Engineer - Conveyance and Infrastructure Rehabilitation will work closely with subject matter specialists, project managers and other team leads locally and nationally to lead and execute work involving conventional types of civil engineering principles and other related activities for buried infrastructure projects. You will work on a variety of projects that may include assessments, planning, evaluation, design, and construction related activities for wastewater, water and stormwater conveyance systems. For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate and lead local and national teams. The Senior Project Engineer role coordinates all aspects of civil-specific elements of water/wastewater utility infrastructure projects, from planning to completion. This role liaises with stakeholders, supervises scope, schedule, and budget to ensure that client goals are met and meets industry standards for care. The role operates with minimal supervision, leading large, complex projects with diverse internal and external teams. It involves critical decision-making that effectively communicates complex technical solutions to clients and others, striking a balance between risk and opportunity.

Responsibilities



  • Deliver projects through planning, design, and creation of civil engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Supervise the maintenance of BC's project management delivery requirements.
  • Direct and implement project risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts for project deliverables.
  • Verify compliance and resolve apparent conflicts with relevant codes, laws, and permits to ensure regulatory adherence in all tasks performed.
  • Serves as a lead technical resource for multiple client service teams.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of BC Standards.
  • Engage on multiple top Area pursuits by providing technical contributions for proposals and presentations.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

  • Provides mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills and Competencies



  • Project ability to direct and organize civil teams to complete multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage team communications.
  • Proven capability to solve complex, undefined problems.
  • Expertise in the design and planning of civil engineering projects.
  • Keen understanding of regulatory compliance for relevant codes, laws, and permits and impacts of changing regulatory environments.
  • Understanding of delivering complex projects and multiple delivery alternatives.


Experience



  • Typically, a minimum of 10 years of work experience in civil engineering or related field.
  • A history of leading large-scale projects and initiatives with strategic importance.
  • Professionally licensed.
  • Typically certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist Framework, and progressing through the SMS competencies.


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in civil, environmental engineering and consulting industry, specifically in water/wastewater conveyance systems, with progressive responsibilities including project management, marketing and business development
  • Experienced professional experience in the study, condition assessment, design, and construction administration of water, stormwater and/or wastewater pipelines, pumping stations, and other facilities.
  • Extensive experience in the planning, design, rehabilitation, and execution of large-scale collection system facilities
  • Familiarity of cutting-edge pipeline and condition assessment technology tools is a plus


Education



  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent experience is required.


Preferred Education/certification



  • M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater and water is a plus
  • PE in Ohio or ability to obtain one through reciprocity within 6 months


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $117,000 - $159,000
Location B: $128,000 - $175,000
Location C: $140,000 - $191,000
