The Assistant Vice President, Product Strategy & Management - Healthcare Operations Domain provides strategic leadership for the development, integration, and lifecycle management of Vizient analytic tools, data products, and technology-enabled offerings supporting hospital operational performance improvement for clients and internal stakeholders. This role is accountable for driving product strategy, operational alignment, and portfolio execution across complex analytics and data solutions.The role requires a seasoned leader with demonstrated success in product portfolio management, operational analytics, healthcare data strategy, and cross-functional leadership. The AVP serves as a key strategic partner to senior leadership, client organizations, and external vendors while ensuring alignment between product investments, market demand, and Vizient's long-term business objectives.This position specifically supports the Data & Digital business unit Operations Domain with oversight responsibilities for Operational Database (ODB) strategy, product build and execution, and related operational analytics initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Product Leadership
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio of analytics and operational data products, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, client priorities, and market opportunities.
- Develop and execute long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap for operational analytics offerings, including Operational Database (ODB) capabilities and future-state operational intelligence solutions; driving AI agentic technologies and workflows throughout the portfolio.
- Lead product lifecycle management activities including innovation, enhancements, rationalization, adoption strategy, and retirement planning.
- Present portfolio strategies, product performance, market opportunities, and investment recommendations to executive leadership, member steering committees, and governance groups.
- Establish measurable business outcomes and KPIs tied to product adoption, client value, operational performance improvement, and revenue growth.
Client and Market Engagement
- Serve as the voice of the customer by incorporating client feedback, market research, industry trends, and competitive intelligence into product strategy and prioritization.
- Partner directly with healthcare executives and hospital operational leaders to understand evolving operational challenges and identify opportunities for analytics-driven solutions.
- Conduct market analysis, competitive positioning, segmentation, win/loss analysis, and growth forecasting to guide strategic investment decisions.
- Lead go-to-market planning in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Advisory Services, and Client Management teams.
- Support client retention and expansion efforts by aligning product capabilities to operational and financial improvement opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Execution
- Partner closely with Development, Enterprise Architecture, Analytics, Product Delivery, Data Intake, Finance, Corporate Strategy, and Advisory teams to define business requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure successful coordination and execution of enterprise-wide product initiatives impacting multiple business units and stakeholder groups.
- Drive alignment between technology capabilities, operational workflows, data governance standards, and client business needs.
- Oversee prioritization and execution of operational analytics initiatives, ensuring scalability, usability, and measurable member impact.
- Collaborate with implementation and support teams to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and ongoing optimization of solutions.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Directors, Product Managers, and Product Owners responsible for operational analytics and data-driven product portfolios.
- Build a high-performing product management culture focused on accountability, innovation, collaboration, and execution excellence.
- Establish clear performance expectations and support professional development planning for team members.
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships and promote effective communication across organizational levels.
Vendor and Partnership Management
- Manage strategic relationships with third-party vendors, technology partners, and external stakeholders supporting operational analytics products and capabilities.
- Evaluate partnership opportunities and vendor solutions to enhance portfolio offerings and accelerate innovation.
- Negotiate and oversee vendor deliverables, business outcomes, and operational performance expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in product management, healthcare analytics, operational strategy, or technology-eabled healthcare solutions.
- Hands on experience with analytics driven healthcare and hospital operational performance improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex product portfolios and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, operational analytics, data strategy, and healthcare technology solutions.
- Proven success managing cross-functional teams and influencing executive stakeholders.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing product management teams.
- Strong business acumen with experience developing business cases, growth strategies, and operational performance metrics.
- Ability to manage a team and product execution through a rapidly evolving product development process and lifecycle.
- Proven track record of leading execution and adoption programs for advanced AI platforms, including autonomous agents, decision intelligence, workflow automation, and data-driven analytics solutions.
- Excellent executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with healthcare provider organizations, operational leaders, and enterprise data solutions strongly preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed and fast-paced environment.

Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $236,600.00.
