The University of
Illinois Counseling Center is hiring one or more hourly clinical counselors to
provide clinical assessment, counseling, and triage for individual clients. The
successful candidate will join an energetic, varied team of nearly 50 staff including
29 clinicians, 4 pre-doctoral interns, 6 counseling center professional staff,
7 administrative staff, as well as a team of undergraduate paraprofessionals
and master's level practicum counselors. The University of Illinois Counseling
Center's mission is to provide culturally competent services to a diverse clientele presenting with a wide range of
psychological, educational, social, and developmental concerns. The Counseling
Center is also an APA approved pre-doctoral internship site. We seek candidates of

Job SummaryProvide clinical assessment and psychotherapy for individuals and couples; in addition, may provide group counseling and/or emergency triage services as needed. At times may provide clinical supervision of practicum students and new staff, when appropriate and depending on need, and other duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide time-limited counseling services for individuals and couples
- Conduct initial intakes and assessments
- Document provision of clinical services
- Manage clinical crises and provide triage services
- Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Masters in Social Work or Counseling.
- Must currently possess appropriate professional licensure in Illinois (Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual clinicians fluent in English and Mandarin or Spanish.
- Experience providing bilingual psychological services.
Appointment Information
Generally, this
position will be a minimum of 9 months, (within the academic calendar schedule) and some summer hours to provide adequate continuity. This position may last for a longer period of
time by mutual consent of the incumbent and the Center and will be reviewed
with option to continue/renew employment on an annual basis.
- Full Time Equivalency: This is a 0% FTE academic hourly position. Academic Hourly employees are appointed on a temporary or intermittent basis and are paid bi-weekly for only the hours actually worked.
- On-Site Position: Work for this position will
be onsite at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time
basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility Policy. - Work Schedule: Weekly schedule will be 1-3
days/week. Percent time may increase at a later date. The Counseling Center
hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and from 8 a.m.
to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The work schedule will vary depending on organizational need and candidate availability. - Salary Information: The budgeted rate of pay
for this position is $50-$55/hour dependent on qualifications. - This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization
The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/3/2026.
