Sr. Zone/Fiber Inspector / Zone/Fiber Inspector
Applications are now being accepted for the position of Sr. Zone Inspector / Zone Inspector in Development Services at Ada County Highway District in the Boise, Idaho area. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $25.10 - $32.90 per hour, DOQ.

Primary Responsibilities:
Sr. Zone/Fiber Inspector
- The Sr. Zone Inspector is responsible to inspect, monitor, and investigate contractor compliance with District plans, specification and standards for work performed in the public rights of way of Ada County.
- The Sr. Zone Inspector provides technical traffic control and ADA accessibility guidance and assistance to the Zone Inspectors.
- The individual duties will include participating in pre-construction meetings on assigned projects; inspects and evaluates utility installations, drainage construction, roadway section construction, and/or repair; monitors Cooperative Development projects and more complex technical projects.
Zone/Fiber Inspector
- The Zone Inspector monitors, inspects and investigates contractor compliance with District policy, specifications, and standards for work performed within the public right-of-way areas of Ada County.
Qualifications:
Sr. Zone/Fiber Inspector
- Requires a considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of road, bridge, and storm drain construction; materials field inspection and testing techniques, District permitting process, QA/QC principles and practices of the District; MUTCD temporary traffic control and ADA work zone accessibility standards.
- Must be able to obtain a Nuclear Safety, Responsible Person, and Traffic Control Technician and Traffic Control Supervisor Certification within 3 months of employment. All WAQTC certifications are required. Must possess a valid Idaho drivers license.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive inspection experience; supplemented by college level courses in Engineering or a related field are preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
Zone/Fiber Inspector
- The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of construction practices and procedures; good knowledge of materials used in construction and roadway development; good knowledge of work zone traffic control signing and traffic safety procedures; good knowledge of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements and guidelines for pedestrian facilities; ability to perform mathematical engineering calculations; ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings; ability to prepare effective inspection notes and testing documentation.
- Must possess a valid Idaho drivers license.
- Must either have or be able to obtain certifications for Nuclear Safety and Responsible Person for erosion and sediment control within 6 months; must obtain WAQTC Certifications within 12 months of employment.
- Must have good experience with use of computer programs, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Trak It and GIS software preferred.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
