Development Services Technician / SR Development Services Technician
Applications are now being accepted for a Development Services Technician / SR Development Services Technician in the Development Services Department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $18.90 - $25.20 per hour DOQ.

Primary Duties:
Development Services Technician
- Reviews and approves construction permits for temporary work being done in the public right-of-way associated with Zone and Subdivision permits.
- Schedules inspections, calculates and collects fees.
- Coordinates pre-construction meetings for Development Services permits/projects, administration/close out for Development Services permits/projects.
- Responsible for the recordation of legal documents.
SR Development Services Technician
- Performs pre-application review and coordinates with Traffic Operations for signal hardware requirements;
- Prepare site licenses and complete data entry for small cell license agreements;
- Assists in drafting and processing of license agreements, easements, development agreements and other right-of-way acquisition documents;
- Reviews title exceptions, prepare sale and purchase agreements, deeds, easements, and other right-of-way documents;
- Assists with processing incoming permits for temporary work being done in the public right-of-way;
- Works as electronic record liaison for the division to ensure the utilization of electronic files and records are being utilized fully.
Qualifications:
Development Services Technician
- The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, especially communicating detailed policies. A basic understanding of construction terminology is preferred.
- The incumbent must be accurate and have the ability to multi-task. Strong customer service skills are required.
- Good knowledge of Construction practices and permitting, construction and transportation terminology, and the ability to operate a computer and related business software.
- Any combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities are acceptable.
SR Development Services Technician
- Legal descriptions and terminology as it relates to real estate transactions;
- Right-of-way acquisition processes;
- Record management processes and programs.
- Read maps, plot plans, profiles and construction drawings;
- Assist in writing reports of right-of-way activities;
- Interpret policies and procedures accurately and effectively;
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Operate a computer and related business software.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of land, construction sites, or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate drafting instruments, computers and various pieces of office equipment.
