Position Summary
The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for the development and conduct of CRWG research. This role must be able to design, fund, and implement reproductive health research and solve problems independently as well as assist junior colleagues in the lab. The precise nature of the projects will vary according to the evolving direction of CRWG, but will encompass challenges in sexual and reproductive health research.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • -Develops new research questions to be addressed by reading pertinent scientific literature and/or attending key seminars and scientific meetings.
  • -Develop and/or learn new methodological and analytical techniques when needed and teach these techniques to others in the Center.
  • -Troubleshoot problems in existing CRWG research projects; assisting everyone with their research.
  • -Perform research independently, meeting the mutually determined deadlines for data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • -Prepare draft manuscripts, and presentations at meetings, and scientific meetings.
  • -Prepare grant proposals and serve as principal (PI) or co-principal investigator (Co-PI) on various research projects including those -in which others are the PI.
  • -Performs other relevant duties and special projects as required for scientific excellence in the research program.
  • -Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Doctorate in Public Health, Nursing, or related social science discipline
    • Minimum 5 years experience in abortion research with relevant publications
    • Effective interpersonal skills required in interactions with physicians, nurses, researchers and patients
    • Ability to lead research projects, mentor junior researchers and research staff in developing, and managing research projects
