Under the general direction of the Administrative Manager, the Medical Assistant will perform a range of duties consistent with standard medical assistant practice, including coordinating patient flow, obtaining and recording patient vital signs, documenting patient information in the electronic medical record, performing basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection, and ensuring exam rooms are properly stocked, cleaned, and prepared for patient care.

This position is Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm.

  • Obtains and records vital signs, weights, blood pressure, O2 usage along with other documentation deemed necessary prior to seeing the provider.
  • Prepare and don a fresh set of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a disposable gown and gloves, and provide the patient with a surgical mask upon greeting if they are not already wearing one
  • Reviews and reconciles the patients' current medications list.
  • Alerts the provider when the patient is ready and communicates pertinent clinical information.
  • Perform standardized 6-Minute Walk Tests to assess patients' functional exercise capacity and conduct spirometry to evaluate lung function, including FEV1 and FVC measurements, as well as perform iontophoresis-based sweat testing (sweat testing) in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Set up, clean and stock exam rooms.
  • Adheres to hand hygiene and CF precautions guidelines.
  • Assist weekly with other clinics within the department by obtaining and recording patient vital signs on non-cystic fibrosis clinic days as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
