The Associate Vice President of Strategy and Planning is responsible for developing long range goals regarding service opportunities in the Greater Central Illinois service area. Responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external physician groups, local hospitals, and community organizations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Create strategic relationships in identified markets, understand local healthcare operations, community players and service opportunities.
  • Direct and execute research, provider communication, and set-up processes of new service opportunities to further secure Springfield Clinic market share in identified markets.
  • Work with and co-operate processes from Marketing, Provider Recruitment, Operations and other internal departments to formalize a business development strategy.
  • Initiate/negotiate contract terms, execute of addenda to existing contracts, renewal revisions to existing contracts and assessment of adherence to contract terms during the life of the life of the arrangement.
  • Work directly with the approved Legal Counsel when necessary and ensure all monthly invoices are consistent with the agreed-to terms of each party.
  • Partner with the SC Executive Team and Market Intelligence program to strategically grow partnerships and identify opportunities.
  • Oversee potential affiliating Physicians and/or Groups through the evaluation and Onboarding process in close partnership with Operations, Recruitment, Finance, and other internal SC support departments.

  • Ensure prompt corrective action is implemented with cost, safety and patient care as priority for the facilities, equipment and systems for outreach locations within both Springfield Clinic and contracted facilities.
  • Make decisions, give directions and/or take actions appropriate to the scope of duties and responsibilities of an AVP.
  • Coordinate and plan for long range objectives to assure the success of the day to day business and clinical operations of each Regional practice and business opportunity.
  • Prepare all capital budgets relative to the operation under his or her charge.
  • Manage and assign reporting staff, and/or coverage needed in order to assure proper workflow, maintenance and continuity of practices/care for the operation in the outreach setting.
  • Develop and manage standards, with external hospital administrators, to oversee the day to day responsibilities of contracted staff supporting Springfield Clinic providers/services.
  • Oversee design and construction of newly leased space, space expansions/renovations, and ensure cost effective measures are identified while coordinating the use of shared space across multiple specialty and provider clinics.
  • Maintain standards and performance following policies and procedures of Springfield Clinic LLP.
  • Serve as a leader for the overall Regional Recruitment/Business Development Strategies. Be visual by providers and department administrators on a routine basis.
  • Work with and co-operate processes from the Business Development team to utilize referral tracking data to identify internal and external referring and non-referring providers to be used to monitor/build/maintain strategic relationships.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Office Management, Business Administration or Communication preferred, but will consider acceptable work experience/equivalent.
  • Minimum, five to seven (5 -7) years clinical practice management or previous management/director experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, practice management systems, business budgeting, and project leadership/management.
  • Strong analytical abilities, strong communication skills, self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision in order to carry out the practice goals and objectives.
  • The ability to meet with and deliver effective communication to physician groups, local agencies, and hospital administration regarding services offered by the Clinic, as well as opportunities to expand services locally.
  • Available for moderate travel.
  • Able to lead, as well as work in a team environment.
  • Ability to use sound reasoning and logic to solve problems for the short term and long term of the practice.

Working Environment

  • Normal office environment with required travel.
