HJF is seeking a high-caliber Biostatistician IV to provide advanced statistical expertise in support of complex dental research initiatives. This position plays a critical role in the design, analysis, and interpretation of data across a portfolio of studies aligned to the Tri-Service Dental Research Program (TSDRP). The Biostatistician partners with investigators, clinicians, and program leadership to ensure scientific rigor, reproducibility, and innovation in addressing oral health challenges relevant to military and civilian populations.

This position will support the Tri-Service Dental Research Program (TSDRP), which aligns strategic academic, research, and operational missions to mitigate knowledge and capability gaps affecting oral health and readiness of warfighters, while also addressing civilian dental care challenges.

  • Design and implement statistical methodologies for clinical, translational, and operational dental research studies.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators to develop study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and sample size calculations.
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses using large, complex, and multi-source datasets.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and reproducibility through validation processes and documentation.
  • Interpret and communicate statistical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support TSDRP proposal development, including methodological input and statistical justification.
  • Contribute to publications, reports, and presentations for senior military and civilian leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and data governance policies.
  • Develop and maintain statistical code and analysis pipelines using validated tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on statistical best practices.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align analytics with TSDRP program goals.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years' experience required

    or

  • Doctoral Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of statistical methodologies including regression, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and experimental design.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research design and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to translate complex statistical results into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with large datasets and database systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, proposal/project tracking, and data analysis software
  • Prior experiences in the life sciences strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office environment.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $105,800 - $150,700. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
