Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Leadership duties: Controls, directs, and participates in the activities of the organization through a hierarchy of managers and supervisors. Responsibilities also include long-term strategic planning, determining the policies of the organization, and allocating its resources and making decisions regarding organization growth and diversification to accomplish entity's vision. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises para-professional employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting day-to-day operational objectives for team, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.

Job Overview

The position works in coordination with the Clinical Nurse Manager/Director to ensure that work is accomplished safely and effectively for assigned unit(s). The Coordinator will be responsible for developing nursing staff through mentoring, coaching, and education.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

2. Registered Nurse (RN) license.

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

5. Five (5) years of nursing experience with at least 1 year as a charge / lead nurse.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

2. Critical care experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Assesses the number and level of staff required to provide optimal quality patient care within budgetary constraints and adjusts staffing as necessary.

2. Prioritizes and triages in collaboration with nursing staff to ensure the most effective use of patient care resources.

3. Mentors and coaches nursing staff to enhance their professional development.

4. Educates staff on department/hospital policies, procedures, equipment, and/or supplies.

5. Supports activities needed to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and compliance with clinical patient care standards and established policies and procedures.

6. Participates in departmental and hospital committee meetings.

7. Participates in quality improvement activities.

8. Maintains professional educational development as related to evidenced-based practice.

9. Maintains a reciprocal relationship with the Clinical Managers/Directors to assure unit productivity.

10. Monitors and assesses need to secure additional supplies.

11. Rounds on assigned unit(s) and consults with the nursing staff to verify that patient needs are being met.

12. Assesses and coordinates the flow of critical care patients to optimize resources.

13. Acts rapidly and competently, follows hospital policies and procedures in any emergency situation.

14. Ensures organizational policies, procedures, standards and practices are communicated and followed by staff.

15. Identifies and allocates resources according to budgetary expectations, benchmarking data, standards of nursing practice and ethical principles of care.

Physical Requirements:

1. Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning patients.

2. Prolonged standing and walking.

3. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.

4. Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.

5. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens.

6. Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.

7. Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Demonstrates leadership abilities.

2. Ability to work in stressful situations.

3. Possesses good oral and written communication skills.

4. Ability to effectively work in a changing environment.

5. Possesses technical and clinical expertise necessary to function as a resource person for staff in order to deal with patient care issues, both directly and indirectly.

Hours: 24 or 36 hours/week, Minimal weekend and holiday requirement
