Posting: AP7714 Location: This position serves students throughout Innovative and Flexible Programs and requires travel between multiple district sites, including Walker High School, Kessler Center, Emerald Ridge High School, Rogers High School Position: On-Time Graduation Specialist & Credit Recovery Teacher Innovative and Flexible Programs Rate: 1.0 FTE Calendar: 180-Day Work Schedule: Monday*Friday 8:30 a.m. * 4:00 p.m. Puyallup School District is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered educator to serve as our On-Time Graduation Specialist and Credit Recovery Teacher supporting students across Innovative and Flexible Programs, including Walker High School, Puyallup Open Doors, and Puyallup Online Academy. This unique position is designed to ensure that students remain on track toward graduation by providing targeted credit recovery opportunities, developing individualized learning plans, and creating innovative pathways for students who have experienced credit deficiencies. The successful candidate will work directly with students in grades 9*12 to remove barriers to graduation and help them achieve academic success. The On-Time Graduation Specialist will collaborate closely with counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify students in need of intervention and develop personalized plans that accelerate credit attainment while maintaining high academic expectations. Primary Responsibilities Credit Recovery and Graduation Support * Develop and oversee program-wide credit recovery systems and procedures across Innovative and Flexible Programs. * Identify students who are credit deficient and create individualized graduation plans designed to support on-time graduation. * Provide direct instruction and intervention through a variety of credit recovery models, including:
- Digital learning platforms such as Edmentum and Edgenuity
- Project-Based Learning (PBL) Workshops, seminars, and small-group instruction Mastery-based learning opportunities
- Alternative demonstration of learning experiences
- Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements and collaborate with school teams to implement timely interventions.
- Support students in recovering lost credits while fostering engagement, accountability, and academic growth. Program Development and Leadership
- Establish consistent credit recovery expectations, procedures, and best practices across all Innovative and Flexible Programs.
- Analyze student data to identify trends and develop proactive strategies that increase graduation rates.
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teaching staff to strengthen graduation support systems.
- Assist in the development of innovative instructional practices that support alternative pathways to graduation. Assessment Coordination
- Serve as the site coordinator for state assessments across Innovative and Flexible Programs.
- Coordinate all aspects of state testing in collaboration with the administrative team.
- Ensure compliance with district and state assessment procedures.
- Train and support staff involved in assessment administration.
Manage testing schedules, materials, accommodations, and reporting requirements. Notes: CANDIDATE MUST HOLD OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN TEACHING CERTIFICATE WITH OSPI INCLUDING THE APPROPRIATE ENDORSEMENT. - Experience working with credit-deficient, at-risk, or alternative education students
- Knowledge of graduation requirements, credit recovery systems, and alternative pathways to graduation.
- Experience with Edmentum, Edgenuity, or similar digital learning platforms preferred.
- Experience with project-based learning, mastery-based learning, and personalized instructional models preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple programs and school sites.
- Experience coordinating assessments or state testing processes preferred.
