The Technical Product Manager II plays a pivotal role in Delta Dental's technology modernization strategy, owning the vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal back-end platform products that enable engineering teams across the enterprise. This role supports Authentication & Authorization, Platform Engineering Standards, Common Services, APIs, and other developer-facing platforms. Working closely with Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and application development teams, you'll define long-term platform capabilities, drive modernization initiatives, and deliver reusable services that improve developer productivity, scalability, and enterprise resiliency.


  • Lead platform product initiatives in partnership with Platform Engineering to maximize product value and ensure a seamless product life cycle.
  • Create and execute product roadmaps, strategies, and platform modernization plans.
  • Champion product ideas and initiatives, driving them from concept to implementation.
  • Define and track measurable outcomes and KPIs, ensuring alignment with business and engineering objectives.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into actionable platform capabilities.
  • Prioritize and manage product backlogs, balancing modernization, technical debt, operational needs, and new platform capabilities.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform product strategy and platform decisions.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Provide product expertise and guidance to engineering teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure platform solutions meet defined quality, scalability, security, and user experience standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of product management experience supporting internal back-end platform products (e.g., APIs, infrastructure, or developer platforms).
  • Proven track record of successful product launches and enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in defining and tracking KPIs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization technologies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of platform engineering standards and APIs is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with a customer-centric approach.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. Pay Grade 23. $107,464 -$220,763 Nationally.
