Position Overview

The University of North Texas - Dallas invites applications for the position of Residency University Field Supervisor in the College of Education and Human Development.
The Residency University Field Supervisor prepares, monitors, and assesses student teachers, provides hands-on support and development that result in student achievement gains, and fosters positive relationships between school districts and the university.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Master's Degree in education-related field
  • Principal EC-12 Certification
  • Minimum of three years of PK-12 teaching experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with a variety of technology and computer hardware and software
  • Experience in instructional leadership, coaching novice teachers, and facilitation of professional development
  • Experience in data analysis to create an action plan
  • Exceptional ability to organize, plan, and execute project tasks independently
  • Ability to develop and sustain school/community/university partnerships


Preferred Qualifications



  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Elementary, Bilingual, Special Education, 4-8 Social Studies, 4-8 Math, LOTE EC-12, ESL, Spanish Certifications
  • Certified evaluator in T-TESS
  • Attend all University Field Supervisor Monthly Meetings with College of Education Staff
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with a variety of technology and computer hardware and software
  • Experience in instructional leadership, coaching novice teachers, and facilitation of professional development
  • Experience in data analysis to create an action plan
  • Exceptional ability to organize, plan, and execute project tasks independently
  • Ability to develop and sustain school/community/university partnerships
  • Adherence to the TEA Code of Ethics
  • Attend all University Field Supervisor Monthly Meetings with College of Education Staff
  • Adhere to established EPP (walk throughs) Pre Conference, Observation, Post Conference cycle submissions during Residency
  • Attend yearly EPP Governance Meetings
  • Ensure data and evidence collection accuracy of all submitted student records to the EPP Field Experience Coordinator
  • Exhibit flexibility in travel to geographical student placements sites for observations.

Job Duties



  • Regular communication with instructors of Teacher Candidates, and program faculty Supervise Teacher Candidates in a clinical placement and conduct a minimum of 4 formative walkthroughs and 4 formal observations for the semester.
  • Conduct a pre-and post-conference with each Teacher Candidate for each formal observation Place Teacher Candidate on a Professional Improvement Plan, when warranted Analyze, interpret, and apply data findings to improve candidate's instructional competency
  • Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication, and confidentiality with teacher candidates and the school/ district personnel Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites
  • Collaborate with district and school administrators to select high-quality mentor teachers Analyze, interpret and respond to mentor surveys of teacher candidate's performance
  • Conduct mentor teacher trainings with the support of local professional development facilitator
  • Participate in recruitment of new teacher candidates
  • Create and facilitate professional development sessions for clinical teachers Attend and participate in coordinator training and ongoing professional development meetings.
  • Vetted Teacher Residency Model w/ Partnership Districts:
  • Collaborative Goals:
  • Provide Residents with professional instructional coaching and opportunities to engage in co teaching throughout the clinical placement. Ensure compliance with SBEC requirements for Residents seeking initial certification and with PREP Program Allotment requirements.
  • Shared Governance & Progress Monitoring of Program Quality -
  • Mandatory Participation: Residency University Field Supervisors will meet at least quarterly (minimum four meetings per academic year) with partnership district(s) this may include after work hours per district collaboration UFS agree to review current programmatic resident data, host teacher supports, and implementation needs to make just-in-time improvements.
  • Data-Sharing Framework:
  • Establish processes to share non-identified School System performance data between partnership districts for monitoring and evaluation of Resident preparation and effectiveness.
  • Additional EPP Specific Obligations: Comply with School System policies and procedures and ensure EPP instructors, Site Coordinators/Field Supervisors, and Residents are aware of these policies and procedures.
  • Periodic evaluation to ensure timely communications between resident and UFS Ensure compliance will all other requirements for teacher resident preparation pursuant to TAC chapter 228, Educator Preparation Program Requirements.
  • Maintain candidate records in accordance with applicable policies and laws.
  • Support candidates who fall below academic or professional standards through a documented improvement or growth plan.
  • Design differentiated preparation models responsive to residents that need support.
  • Provide post conference within 48 hours of observation.
