What to Expect

As a Engineering Technician, you will work alongside engineers to develop custom high-power testing equipment for batteries and power electronics components used in vehicles and energy products. This team builds and deploys automated test systems for production lines worldwide.


What You'll Do
  • Perform electro-mechanical tasks including electrical and control panel wiring, frame and fixture assembly, and bench test setup
  • Work from complex manufacturing documentation, drawings, verbal instructions, and specialized fixtures or test equipment
  • Aid in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on equipment
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development
  • Stay organized while interacting with cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Handle inventory management and package pickup
  • Support deployment of testing equipment at Tesla facilities and contract manufacturers

What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years hands-on experience building and wiring various hardware
  • Exposure to mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience using test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and variable DC power supplies
  • Experience with pneumatic and fluid systems
  • Ability to solder and crimp large and small components and use basic shop tools such as drill presses and band saws
  • Comfortable working around high voltage

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including
  • up to 12 hours a day
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limitedto:safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guideline
