DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will focus on inspecting transportation construction work to ensure that all activities meet established standards and requirements. As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties:
- Construction Inspection: Inspect phases of transportation construction work to confirm compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Material Review: Examine construction materials such as concrete, bituminous mixtures, and drainage components to ensure proper placement
- Field Measurements: Check grades, elevations, and layout details in coordination with contractor or survey staff
- Documentation Tasks: Complete project records, estimates, reports, and electronic entries to track progress and quality
- Problem Solving: Assist in addressing field issues by reviewing conditions, collecting information, and recommending solutions
- Team Coordination: Work with department staff and other agencies to support effective project management

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Travel is required, this position will handle projects in Pike and Wayne Counties
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
