GENERAL SUMMARY
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating machine tools to produce quality parts that meet customer and engineering specifications. This position requires demonstrated machining experience and, preferably, knowledge of HAAS equipment and programming. The CNC Machinist performs inspections, verifies dimensional accuracy, and supports safe, efficient, and accurate manufacturing operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Operate one or more types of machine tools on complex production work involving complicated operations and varying part tolerances.
  • Operate machines where machine setup and parameters need to be determined (e.g. speeds, feeds, tooling and operation sequence).
  • Perform machine setup or operation prescribed in part drawings and/or tool setup sheets. Program machines and edit as needed.
  • Perform machine prove-outs.
  • Verify parts meet print requirements;
  • Inspect/measure and/or gauge parts per part drawing throughout production run.
  • Operate manual machines and drills as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Serve as an active participant in safety initiatives and promote safe work practices throughout the facility.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Ability to set up, program and run CNC & manual machines and drills; HAAS preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all tooling and able to set up appropriate tooling for jobs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC machining centers; HAAS experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, machine setup, tooling selection, and offset adjustments.
  • Understanding of machining principles, including speeds, feeds, cutting tools, and material properties.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues to ensure quality and productivity.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to interpret blueprints, work instructions, safety requirements, and production documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
