Summary of Job Duties:UA Little Rock is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor - 9-Month. The Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research, and service in the School of Computer and Information Sciences. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution;

  • At least five years of academic experience, including teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities;

  • Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders;

  • A track record of research, teaching, and service that aligns with the mission and goals of the school and the university.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience in securing research funding and fostering industry partnerships;

  • Strong understanding of the rapidly evolving technology landscape and the future of Computer and Information Science education.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote an inclusive learning environment and actively work to improve student retention and graduation rates;

  • Support academic advising efforts and student engagement with school-sponsored extracurricular activities such as clubs, hackathons, and internships;

  • Monitor and evaluate student satisfaction with academic programs and implement strategies for continuous improvement;

  • Assist in the development and execution of the department's strategic plan, aligning it with the broader vision of the university and college;

  • Represent the department in university meetings, faculty councils, and other academic forums;

  • Develop partnerships with local industries, government agencies, and other academic institutions to enhance research, internships, and employment opportunities for students.

  • Commitment to inclusive teaching;

  • Ability to provide effective mentorship;

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
