Responsibilities
Chemical Dependency Counselor Clive Behavioral Health opened in February 2021 with 100 inpatient beds for adult, child & adolescent patients experiencing a severe behavioral health crisis. Care at this location focuses on crisis management, stabilization and development of a plan to return to community living with, if needed, supportive outpatient services and community services and resources. Qualifications POSITION SUMMARY The Substance Use Program Counselor performs functions which include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, complete specialized services for patients/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term and long-term family counseling, and providing information and referrals as needed as related to substance use treatment in a facility setting. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work, sociology, psychology or a clinical related substance use field. Experience: Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in a psychiatric health care facility, outpatient substance use or mental health center, FQHC or other equivalent health setting with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; must have strong clinical assessment skills. Inpatient experience highly preferred. Combination of education, certification and experience and/or student internship hours may be considered. License: Must possess current certification as defined by the Iowa Board of Certification (IBC) as a t-CADC, CADC, IADC or IAADC. Additional Requirements: CPR/BLS certification and Handle with Care. These certifications will be offered during New Hire Orientation if applicant does not currently hold.
