BIW - Process Architect

Stellantis
United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills
Jul 07, 2026

The Welding Process Engineering Body-in-White (BIW) Process Architect (PA) will lead the definition, development, and governance of welding process architecture, master plans, and industrial strategies for new vehicle programs across Stellantis body shops. The PA determines the welding process architecture for Underbody, Upperbody, or Master Plant Factory applications and ensures process feasibility, investment convergence, workforce optimization, and compliance with Stellantis technical referentials. The PA operates on a global perimeter supporting Stellantis, joint ventures, and partnership plants, analyzing industrial assumptions and product definitions, developing body shop master plans, and proposing product-process optimizations. The PA interfaces with Product Engineering, Vehicle Assembly, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program teams to ensure robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions while supporting future product integration, carryover strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze industrial launch assumptions and product definitions.
  • Develop body shop process architectures and master plans aligned with Stellantis benchmarks.
  • Assess product manufacturability and process feasibility.
  • Propose product and process simplifications to improve industrial performance.
  • Drive convergence of investments, workforce requirements, and throughput targets.
  • Promote carryover and reuse strategies across programs and plants.
  • Lead process reviews with internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Monitor implementation of approved master plan scenarios.
  • Support future vehicle integration and serial-life evolution planning.
  • Participate in the development and enforcement of technical referentials.
  • Analyze lessons learned and recommend continuous improvement actions.
  • Provide functional leadership and guidance to Process Planners.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Experience in Body in White manufacturing process development, automated/manual systems, and industrial planning
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter Manufacturing, VIS Mock-Up, AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to effectively work and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Program/project management experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience developing master plans, process architectures, and investment strategies.
  • Knowledge of digital manufacturing and process simulation tools.
