R + D Apprentice Job Duties:

• Assist with custom coating processes, including identifying coating requirements and determining appropriate application methods.
• Support research and development activities by troubleshooting coating challenges and improving processes.
• Prepare parts for coating through masking, grit blasting, cleaning, and surface preparation.
• Operate equipment including blast cabinets, hand spray plasma torches, and hand tools.
• Apply coatings using hand spraying techniques while following established procedures and quality standards.
• Perform hand filing, finishing, and cleanup of coated components to meet specifications.
• Inspect completed parts and prepare finished products for shipment.
• Use hand and power tools safely to support production and coating operations.
• Manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with team members to solve problems and support continuous improvement efforts.

R + D Apprentice Requirements:

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve process challenges.
• High mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools.
• Ability to learn new processes, adapt to frequent changes, and work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.
• Ability to multitask and support multiple functions within a custom coating operation.
• Comfortable performing physical work, including standing, walking, and repetitive hand movements for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. continuously.
• Experience with masking tools, blasting equipment, spraying techniques, or similar manufacturing processes is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and grow through hands-on training in coating technologies and production methods.
