Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) is a dynamic medium-size consulting firm with offices across the United States and Canada. We are looking for a regular, full-time Health and Safety Assistant with a location TBD.

This position, we anticipate the job to be 90% in the professional or remote office environment and 10% in the field, however those percentages are subject to change.

The base compensation for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hour, plus annual bonus. Pay may vary based on education, knowledge, and experience.



Job Summary:


The Health & Safety Assistant will provide full-time support and assistance to the operations of WEST under the supervision of the Office Safety Team Lead and Health and Safety Manager. This position will assist the Health and Safety Team with the planning, implementing, and maintaining of all health and safety programs in order to comply with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations as well as customer requirements. In addition, the assistant will assist in reducing injuries and claims by monitoring and evaluating safe work conditions and opportunities for improvement. The assistant will participate by proactively promoting a positive and safe work culture at WEST.



Responsibilities Include:



  • Assist Health and Safety Team and support all US & Canada safety staff with administrative and on-board training functions.
  • Updates and maintains all management systems (ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, etc.) for the US.
  • Completes updates and reviews of WEST Safe Work Practices (SWP) and safety protocols.
  • Maintains and Updates the WEST safety database.
  • Creation of Monthly Safety Report, Safety Alerts and Monthly Newsletter
  • Maintains and manages the Health & Safety SharePoint Site
  • Assists on incident reviews and investigation processes when needed by Field Safety Specialists (FSS)
  • Process all paperwork associated with accidents, on-site inspections, and in-house audits.
  • Audits client contracts to ensure the environmental, health and safety procedures and training meet contract requirements.
  • Reviews Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) or Project Safety Plans (PSPs) to ensure they are complete and accurate for the workplace.
  • Assist management with the annual health and safety program report.
  • Participates and provides training in project kickoff meetings or orientations.
  • Support Office Safety Team Lead as well as the Health and Safety Manager.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual who is able to pay close attention to detail and possess:



  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in an office setting.
  • Some knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling information and documentation.
  • Be detail oriented in all transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Understands all field work conducted at WEST and the hazards associated with it.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ensure both WEST and client protocols are being effectively applied in the field



Physical Requirements:



  • Sit and talk in an office setting, often for long periods of time.
  • Operate computers, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (10%)



After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST's minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver's license will be required.
