Join the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) team, where you'll contribute to groundbreaking innovations! We are seeking applicants for an entry to mid-level Systems Engineer to join our Strategic and Military Space Division.SDL is seeking a Multidisciplinary Systems Engineer to support Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) satellite missions. This position is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico on the premises of Kirtland Air Force Base.
This engineer will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a dynamic, energetic, and collaborative environment that emphasizes growth.The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic, driven self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and desire an opportunity to influence and develop SmallSat systems. This is a rich opportunity to rapidly mature your technical/mentoring skills by being involved inevery aspect of small satellite design including, documentation, analysis, fabrication, integration, testing, launch, and operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science and 2-8 years of relevant experience or a master's degree and 0-6 years of relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of multiple fields: mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, software, controls, astrodynamics, navigation, propulsion, or guidance
- Knowledge of system engineering tools and analysis methods
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both individually and within a team environment
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail while still having a system-level perspective
- Some travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Existing TS/SCI clearance
- 2+ years of relevant spacecraft systems engineering or advanced degree(s) in a related field
- In-depth familiarity with small satellites, systems requirements and subsystems
- Experience with space hardware development and testing
- Understanding of space environment
Salary Range:
$80,000-$120,000
