SUMMARY: Position Available in Neuro-Oncology Candidates with a background in neurology or neuro-oncology are preferred. Relevant experience in these fields is essential. The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for facilitating quality hospital experience and outcomes for patients within a cost-effective time frame. The Nurse Practitioner will report to the Medical Director of Patient Services and be responsible for overseeing the progress of a specific caseload of patients across the care continuum, including pre-admission and post-discharge when feasible. Acts as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for patients across the care continuum. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Masters of Science Degree, Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Specialty certification required. Baccalaureate in Nursing Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Preferred qualifications include experience in Neuro-Oncology or Neurology. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital setting, with an additional preference for 1-2 years of clinical practice as a nurse practitioner. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
