POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator performs a variety of complex duties and is responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate preparation, processing, and distribution of the payroll in accordance with established association procedures. This position requires high level analytical and communication skills and the aptitude to perform complex and confidential duties within the Payroll Department. The Payroll Administrator will provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers and third-party vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all payroll functions to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing, calculation, and payment of the bi-weekly payroll.
  • Process off-cycle payments according to company policy and federal and state regulations.
  • Process leave of absences and accurately account for FMLA or STD within UKG.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves payroll related issues, questions, and discrepancies. Manages inquiries, payroll adjustments, and requests. Collaborate with multiple departments for problem resolution to payroll issues.
  • Reviews exception and audit reports in UKG Ready to ensure employees are compensated accurately and according to policy. Communicate with managers and employees regarding timecard issues.
  • Reviews benefit elections to ensure employee selections are accurately represented in payroll. Troubleshoot and research deductions discrepancies where needed.
  • Maintain an understanding of payroll wage and hour laws, federal and state tax laws, as well as familiarity with all types of pre- and post-tax benefits, 401K/403B, and leave of absence rules and regulations.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of payroll process and procedures.
  • Support testing for upgrades and new releases for the payroll system.
  • Participates in all year-end activities including reconciliations and ensures that year-end tax forms are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the completion of pay period and monthly reporting including entering journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Must be familiar with electronic timecard systems and processes. Provides instruction and reports to colleagues and leaders.
  • Responsible for processing new hires, terminations, and all company deductions in UKG Ready.
  • Serve as liaison to third party vendors to ensure seamless process delivery of payroll settlement, taxes, and benefits.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to employee and leadership inquiries on payroll issues in a timely manner.
  • Assists with special projects and other tasks assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years' experience is required.
  • Experience in non-profit and UKG Ready is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and must be able to create formulas.
  • Must be able to manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate effectively.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The ALS Association's pay range for this position is$62,000 - $68,000 annually.

The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.

The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association. Healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with employer match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, paid time off and several paid holidays are available to Association employees, among other benefits.
