Position Overview


Primary Purpose of the Position
The position is an academic rank of Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Heath in the School of Health Sciences, with a start date of August 2026. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, advising, and mentoring students; spearheading and assisting in scholarly research; participation in or support of development of opportunities for students to gain practical experience in the following areas: Internships, Research Exposure; and Service Learning. Participation in departmental and university service such as an outcome assessment and professional service is also expected.

The Department of Public Health promotes and protects population health by educating and preparing a diverse public health workforce, conducting applied research, and engaging communities to prevent disease, reduce health inequities, and improve health outcomes.

Requirements and Preferences








Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies No
Normal Work Schedule
Normal business hours (roughly 8a-5p) with potential for offering an evening class if desired. Some Saturdays may be mandatory for recruitment purposes.
Department Required Skills

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Epidemiology or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
  • Record of scholarly activity or the potential to develop a successful research program


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health degree
  • Demonstrated expertise and/or experience in research design and methods and epidemiology
  • Experience applying public health principles to community-based, interdisciplinary, or translational research
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis software and methods
  • Experience with CEPH accreditation processes and standards
  • Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations
