The laboratory of Dr. Maria Spies is seeking a full-time Post-Baccalaureate Research Intern to join the research group that applies tools of single-molecule biochemistry and structural biology to study fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying DNA replication, recombination and repair, as well as dysregulation of these mechanisms in cancer and repeat expansion diseases. The Research Intern will support lab operations and perform experiments under general and direct supervision. This position offers the opportunity to develop proficiency with advanced biochemical and biophysical techniques related to the structural and functional analysis of protein-nucleic acid interactions. Please see the Spies' Research Group website for more information about our research interests: https://maria-spies.lab.uiowa.edu/ This position is designed for individuals who: * Seek training, experience, and mentoring in a research setting * Plan to pursue a graduate or professional degree in biomedical sciences * Have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency Post-Baccalaureate Research Internship Program: http://research.uiowa.edu/students/post-baccalaureate-research-internship Education Required Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field Required Qualifications Basic knowledge of the following:
